Call Quality Problems
In some cases, you may experience problems with your call quality. Here are some useful troubleshooting tips:
I have static on the line sometimes. Why?
Static or buzzing noises on your line can occur on the analog side of your connection. This consists of your telephone handset and telephone cord. To eliminate static, try another telephone handset such as a corded phone, try connecting it to your Grandstream to Phone 1 and try your call again.
If you have a cordless telephone, it can generate static due to a weak signal between the base station and your handset. Old or low batteries in your handset can also cause static, or the cordless handset may too far from the base station. If you use a wireless router, try moving it away from the base station because wireless devices may interfere with each other's signals.
My calls are sometimes disconnected
First, check your connections on your Grandstream to make sure none of your cords are unplugged or loose. We recommend unplugging all cords and then plugging them back in to ensure a proper connection. If this does not fix the issue, please contact us.
I can hear them, but they can't hear me (or vice versa).
If you are currently using your computer while on your MiPhone, check to see if you are downloading or uploading files. If you are using all of your available bandwidth then it may interfere with your call quality. Try stopping your download or upload and then try your call again.
Alternatively, you can check your line quality of your Internet connection here: http://www.pingtest.net
We recommend testing at the Atlanta, GA server. You should see similar results as pictured below:

A line quality grade of A and B is acceptable for VoIP call quality. In some cases depending on the test server selected you may receive a lower grade. If you receive a grade of C or lower, please try a new server to test at (see the Ping Test FAQ here). If you are experiencing poor line quality on several different test locations, please copy the "Direct Link" and paste your results to an email to our support for further troubleshooting.
