Cable vs. Satellite

Here are some of the advantages of choosing cable over satellite:

  • Billing - Florida Cable will send you one bill each month.  With satellite, you may receive multiple statements each billing cycle.

  • Equipment - Florida Cable will lease you all the cable equipment you need (such as a remote and converter, if required -- depending on the service you choose), and when necessary, we'll update it free of charge.  With most satellite systems, you own the equipment, so when it becomes outdated or obsolete, you're responsible for buying the new components. There are additional costs if you want satellite service on a second TV.

  • Installation - Florida Cable technicians will install everything you need for cable service. Satellite equipment can be tough to install; you can try laboring through it yourself or pay someone to do it.

  • Internet Access - Cable service offers high-speed Internet access available via a cable modem. Although satellite is improving its Internet access capabilities, you can invest up to $700 in equipment and installation.

  • Local Channels - Florida Cable brings you local broadcast channels with local news, weather, sports and network programming at no extra charge.  Satellite offers local channels, but you pay extra for them.

  • Multiple TV connections - With cable, if you have cable connected to more than one TV in your house, your family can watch different channels on each set, simultaneously.  With satellite, in order for someone in your house to watch one channel in the kitchen while you watch another channel in the living room, you would have to purchase a separate receiver for each TV.

  • No Annual Contracts - If you're not satisfied with your Florida Cable service at any time, we'll disconnect your service, no questions asked and no early termination fees.  For satellite companies annual contracts are standard practice. You may be charged a fee for early termination directly to your credit card.

  • Order Assistance Fees - With Florida Cable, ordering pay-per-view is as easy as the touch of a button. However, should you need any assistance, customer service representatives are always ready to serve you at no extra charge. You'll be charged a fee if you need assistance with ordering a pay-per-view movie or event via a satellite provider.

  • Rain Fade - You won't experience these reception problems since your Florida Cable connection is a direct link. Satellite dishes can experience interference problems known as "rain fade."

  • Service - Our service calls are prompt and free.  For satellite you pay an expert every time you need service.

  • Telephone Requirement - With Florida Cable's Digital Service, ordering pay-per-view simply requires the touch of a button on your remote control.  In order to purchase pay-per-view via a satellite provider, a telephone line is required.
